Funding Update
Funding for the TOEX Programme has now been confirmed as part of the Home Office three-year financial settlement. A funding allocation of £6.4 million this year will enable the programme to move from its pilot phase, which saw dedicated and skilled teams, with intelligence and analytical expertise, created within three of the Regional Organised Crime Units (ROCUs) in the Eastern, East Midland and West Midland areas, through to national implementation.
The funding allocation is significant. It demonstrates high-level commitment and endorsement to a programme, which has supported more than 80 complex intelligence cases to date. The increased capacity and capability provided to forces has resulted in more efficient and effective intelligence development and the wide-ranging exploitation of intelligence and data leading to further victims being safeguarded, new suspects and persons of interest being identified, arrests being possible at an earlier stage in the investigation and further harm being prevented.
The funding settlement from the Home Office, alongside an allocation of roles through the Police Uplift Programme, will see TOEX maintain the current national and regional resources as well as uplift the TOEX response across the remainder of England and Wales.
A national recruitment campaign will now commence to bring in the specialist skills and talent required for TOEX - find out more about opportunities to join our team on our 'Vacancies' page.
TOEX National Strategic Coordinator, T/DCS Kate Thacker, said: "I am really grateful for the extensive support the TOEX Programme has received over the past two years and am very excited that Home Office funding will now enable us to uplift to a national operational response to these complex and pervasive threats. The technical enablers initiated by TOEX are part of a wider collaboration across law enforcement and present unique opportunities to transform policing’s approach to data and analytics."
