New TOEX Tool Launched

A new tool, which can be used by investigators to analyse and review large amounts of data from digital phone devices, to identify patterns and relationships, has been launched in the TOEX Capabilities Environment (CE).

TOEX DART (Data Analysis & Review Tool), the seventh application to be launched into the CE (including the Capabilities Environment landing page), allows users to upload a Cellebrite phone extraction directly (or any other phone extraction into provided templates) and returns a high-level summary of the extraction contents.

Users can simultaneously upload a list of keywords they want to automatically search for, or they can use the threat thematic keyword lists, that are pre-built into the tool.

Once uploaded, summary content is provided across the below categories:

  • Text Analysis - Keyword Analysis, Word Count and Keyword Frequency
  • Banking Details
  • Cryptocurrency
  • Telephone Numbers
  • Email Addresses
  • Vehicles
  • Social Media, and
  • Locations

DART joins the other applications, which have been used more than 8,500 times across 10 police forces and all TOEX teams and have resulted in £16.5 million and more than 11,600 hours in savings.

The Capabilities Environment remains a fully funded service, which is free for use to policing. A further six applications will be released this financial year.
